Civics - ABC You And Me

You can divide any population into two groups. There are those who generally obey the laws and those who don't. We call those who don't outlaws.
Outlaws don't obey the laws. So when we speak about laws we need to understand that the conversation only applies to law abiding citizens.
Law abiding citizens tend to obey the law and accept their responsibilities under the law. When they break the law, it is generally for something like a traffic infraction, littering or jay walking.
If a law abiding citizen gets a citation for breaking the law, he/she will usually accept the ruling of the court and pay the fine.
Any conversation we have about the law and a nation of laws has one meaning for law abiding citizens and a different for outlaws.
When it comes to outlaws, the law stipulates how we deal with them and what types of punishments they experience. Outlaws are a burden on the rest of us. They do not contribute to the wellbeing of our country or our society. They are abusers and takers.
Law abiding citizens can also be divided into two groups. There are intelligent law abiding citizens and there are ignorant law abiding citizens. This is not a black and white distinction because there are degrees of intelligence. However, there is a threshold. The threshold has to do with practicality.

Ignorant law abiding citizens are a drag on intelligent law abiding citizens. Ignorant citizens pose a constant threat to our Republic. If enough of them vote as a block, they can undo our Republic.
Intelligence has nothing to do with partisan politics and ignorance has everything to do with partisan politics. As citizens, our first responsibility is to our country, not to a party.
Science is ever evolving. We learn progressively more from generation to generation. Rejecting science is ignorant. Religion is a personal right, it should not be used as a political barometer. In a free and open society religious intolerance is ignorant.
Intelligent people know their limits and remain open to new facts and findings. They are not dogmatic. Ignorant people tend to confuse their opinions and preferences with facts. They can't distinguish between a fact and a belief.
There seems to be a constant conflict between the intelligent people and the ignorant people. Intelligent people can tolerate differences and remain open. Ignorant people tend toward fascism and totalitarianism.
Intelligence is not simply a matter of education. Ignorant people tend toward mobs and mob mentalities.
When the outlaws number more than the law abiding citizens the society descends into lawlessness. Might becomes right. When the ignorant people vastly outnumber the intelligent people the country is well on its way to lawlessness.
I believe we are facing a crisis in lawlessness like we have never faced before on a national level. I believe the Republican Party has fallen prey to the lawless. I believe the Democratic Party is not that far behind. I believe ignorance is on the rise and the country could be delivered lock, stock and barrel to the outlaws.
We could be the next fascist state on a par with Italy or Germany at the height of the power wielded by either Mussolini or Hitler. We have become an idiocracy on its way to a lawless totalitarian state.
Because of the way in which our country was conceived and how it has evolved, we may be beyond recovery. Our institutions were created with fatal flaws that have allowed for corruption at every level.
Corruption leads to chaos and chaos leads to ignorance and ignorance to lawlessness.

"ABC,
Easy as 123
Ah, simple as do re mi
ABC, 123,
Baby, you and me girl"

Songwriters: Berry Gordy, Dennis Lussier, Alphonzo Mizell, Freddie Perren

Honesty, cooperation, talent and compassion are what can save us.

Continued contention and corruption will destroy us.

So who's waiting in the wings to take over our country?

So who's been working hard to bring this about?

So what hideous act led to a break in trust and faith in the law? What injustice reopened racial strife? What tipped the balance and began the distrust that was exploited by Putin to promote chaos?

"ABC,

Easy as 123
Ah, simple as do re mi
ABC, 123"

Holy Moly!
