Treason And Betrayal

Why is the Republican Party abetting treason? We are watching it happen before our eyes in live time during the information age. Yet people are balking at it. It's too far of a stretch for most people, especially those who consider themselves to be Republicans.
Treason is betrayal; betrayal of country. Here in the United States we all learn about it at an early age in our history classes. Who hasn't heard of Benedict Arnold?
Arnold is our prototypical traitor. He joined the enemy. He crossed over. We would all be having an easier time accepting this if we were taught about betrayal and learned about Benedict Arnold in that context - an unfaithful spouse or a friend who steals from you or a cop on the take.
Betrayal is nothing new. The oldest tales we have are about betrayal and trust. The history of politics is all about betrayal. We take it for granted. It's no big thing. It's all about bribery and garnering power.
The thing is betrayal is a big thing, a very big thing. So when politicians betray us, we simply say, "What else is new?". We see it not as treason, but as the same old same old. Too bad our schools are factories as opposed to places to go to stimulate thought. The same is true of religious institutions.
Yes we are all institutionalized from birth. We see neither the forest nor the trees. We see what we have been trained to see.
Lot's of people have tried to warn us. Many authors have cautioned us. A lot of their books have ended up being banned in schools.
Of course there are those who made a science out of deceiving us. We know about Joseph Goebbels - Hitler's Minister of Propaganda. Propaganda is clearly betrayal.
I mean we know propaganda when we see it right? I mean we wouldn't voluntarily allow ourselves to be brainwashed, would we?
So how many hours a day do you sit in front of a TV? Where do you get your information from? How do you learn about political candidates?
TV programming is all about programming us. Who do you think pays for all that programming?

The truth is that traitors have been betraying us all along. Traitors are betrayers and we've been programmed not to see that. We expect traitors to be like Benedict Arnold. So we miss the obvious.
We don't see politicians as traitors. We don't understand that when a politician takes a bribe and betrays us that politician is a traitor. We think that if an American citizen bribes a politician it's not treason, but it is. And anybody with money can buy a politician.
Apparently the Russians realized this and used money to turn an already corrupt businessman into an asset - a flunky. Then they poured money into our election and they compromised everybody who took the money.
The Russians also used money to bribe businessmen, banks, interest groups and religious organizations. They learned the power of a buck. They learned it with a vengeance and they used it on us.
So why are Republicans in Congress having a hard time seeing this for what it is? Wrong question. They see it exactly as it is. It's just bribery or, as they like to call it, "campaign contributions". It's American politics. So what does a pig look like when you try to disguise it with lipstick?
Holy Moly!

  1. Thank for exposing the truth. I knew money is behind all this. But how to stop when so many are blind?

  2. The only way to stop this is with our votes. Vote out all Republicans and give House and Senate back to Democrats. Apply constant pressure to protect Mueller, impeach Trump and enact real election reform - no gerrymandering, public campaign financing, no electoral college, paper ballots, automatic voter registration.
That would be a good start. Electing people is only the first step. Staying on top of them is a daily responsibility.
We need to pressure news organizations to do factual news gathering and reporting. Bullshit panels with all sides represented is not journalism - it's entertainment. Unbiased reporting of facts doesn't require partisan representation. It requires investigative journalism.
I believe Mueller will clean house in a non-partisan manner. No one gets a pass.

Time to get dressed (again!!) and re-define the way to live in a 'free' society...
