Let's Talk Turkey

It's November. The election is over. Thanksgiving is behind us. Let's talk turkey.
For over 4 years I've followed the news meticulously. I've read over 30 books. I've interacted on Twitter and, in accordance with my responsibilities as Prophet of the Church of the Holy Moly, I do this blog.
I do these things on a daily basis. Some days I spend hours at my computer. Some days I never get out of my pajamas. I do this all in an effort to understand what's going on in the United States.
The nomination, election and inauguration of Trump was the catalyst for this. Truth be told, I've been concerned about the United States my entire adult life. I'm 74.
To say that my concerns since 2016 were at an elevated level would be a gross understatement. I couldn't have been more concerned if I'd woken up inside the belly of a whale.
So let me start today by saying I know nothing. That's right I know nothing about what's really going on and neither do you. I'm not sure anyone does.
Truth is there's a lot going on. There's more going on than anyone knows. Even the "major" players don't really know what's happening.
Some people may have an inkling into what they're doing, but when it comes to the bigger picture, they're whistling in the dark.
Joe Biden won the election with over 8,000,000 votes. He won the electoral college with 306 votes. Despite that Trump has been refusing to concede and claiming the election was stolen.
Coming into Thanksgiving Day, Rudy Giuliani and  Sidney Powell were filing lawsuits and holding press conferences alleging voter fraud.
Trump personally met with Michigan legislators trying to persuade them to refuse to certify their state's election results. Chaos was rampant.
All this was happening while our COVID-19 infection rate and death total were mounting at a horrifying rate.
When I woke up on Thanksgiving Day I knew something had changed. Dare I say miraculously changed? I dare.
When I woke up on Thanksgiving Day I believed for the first time since Trump declared his candidacy for President on June 16, 2015 that his days were finally numbered.
Collectively, we had refused to pardon this turkey. Biden was indeed the winner and Trump was on his way out - one way or the other.
The clock is ticking. On December 14th the electoral college's electors will officially cast their votes. On January 6th their votes will be formally certified.
I know January 20th is 51 days away, but I truly believe when it arrives Joe and Kamala will be respectively sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States.
Yes, I'm a believer. I have real faith in this outcome.
On the other hand, I don't know what's going to happen with the COVID-19 pandemic that's killing us in record numbers.
I don't know what's going to happen in January when the people from Georgia return to the polls and vote for candidates who will become their next U.S. Senators.
I don't know if our grossly overvalued stock market will crash and throw us into another Great Depression.
I don't know if Trump will start another Middle East war.
I don't know if Trump's supporters will attempt a revolution.
I don't know how many more criminals and traitors Donny will pardon or even if he will attempt to pardon himself.
And, while I am truly concerned about all the things I don't know about, I'm at peace with my belief that Donald Trump's fascist reign is over.
Trump, and all the freaks he brought with him, will no longer be setting U.S. policy both at home and abroad. They'll all be civilians. They'll all be accountable under our laws.
Not knowing is unnerving, but it's not as unnerving as another 4 years of Trump would have been. We've dodged a bullet. We've come back from the brink of fascism and for that I'm ever so thankful.
I'm breathing freely. I'm also wearing a mask. Join me.
Holy Moly!
