Let The Sunshine In

In 2019 we installed a solar electric system for our home in Milton, Delaware. The total cost was $26,000. We paid for this ourselves. We didn't seek financing.

We own our home and have no debt. Our home is 2126 square feet. There's a 36x40 pole barn next to it. We installed 36 Q.Peak Duo, 325 watt cells on the roof of the pole barn.

A Fronius PRIMO 10.0 inverter is in our basement. The total output power is 11.7kWs.

We are connected to the grid and that costs us $14.90 a month.

We also have a 20kW whole house generator that automatically kicks on if the grid is down. We do not have a battery in our system to store power.

In 2109, we got a $7,800 tax credit that brought our net cost down to $18,200.

We get a credit on our electric bill each month from our electric company. We also get a payment from the state each month for the electricity we produce.

I've waited until 2020 to report on the system. 2020 is the first full year of service and I can compare it to 2018 for the sake of this discussion.

Total electric bill for 2018 was $1,825.80.

Total electric bill for 2020 was $704.39. Total payment from the state in 2020 was $820.91. Our total 2020 cost for electricity was -$116.52.

The only other energy cost for us in 2020 was $329.25. We use propane for our stove, fireplace and hot water heater. In 2018, that cost was $416.47.

Other things worth noting.

We haven't had any problems with our system. It requires no maintenance - no cleaning - no shit.

At this rate, we should completely recoup our investment in 9 years from installation. The panels are warrantied for 25 years. Our installation is warranted for 10 years.

Once the system we have recaptured our cost, we will be making pure profit. In the meantime, we are not contributing to pollution.

The house has a geo-thermal heat pump for heating and air conditioning. The pole barn has 2 ductless mini-split systems for heating and air conditioning. Both our house and barn are well insulated.

Look At Me , I'm A Secessionist - Who Knew?

December 14th and the Electoral College votes. We appear to have stopped a coup.

I say we celebrate. Let's give every state a free pass to secede. Kinda like Monopoly. Just go!

And while we're at it, let's give every state that secedes an assurance that there will be no penalties for seceding.

Have I totally lost it? I think not. I'm trying to save it - the United States. Yep, in order to save this puppy, we must let every state that wants to leave simply leave.

Why, you ask? Because we came dangerously close to losing our country in the last 4 years and, had Trump won this election, we would have lost it forever.

Politically, I fear fascism more than just about anything else. Intellectually, I know you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

We've been trying to make the CSA horses drink from day 1 - even before there was a CSA. It hasn't worked. Hell, they even rebelled and we had to fight an extremely bloody war.

Let them go now before they start another bloody civil war or pull off a successful coup. Let them go!

Read these. Learn a little history.

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/09/electoral-college-terrible/597589/

In the last 20 years we've had 2 Presidents chosen by the Electoral College. Yeah, so much for democracy. Bush destroyed our economy and Trump almost destroyed our government.

If the people we elected had been sworn in as President, our history would've been radically different.

I think we would've missed 9/11, the Great Recession and a fascist coup. I think hundreds of thousands of us may have survived this pandemic. I don't think we would've seen the rise of armed white supremacists in our communities.

Do you think the North really won the Civil War? Is that why so many of our military bases are named after CSA generals?

I've had enough of massive resistance to democracy. Have you?

Let them go. Without them we could fix our Constitution. We could get rid of the Electoral College. We could pass the Equal Rights Amendment. We could pass fair labor laws.

I'm practically giddy at the thought of it.

And then there's the matter of treason. The Republican Party has become the party of hate, crime and treason.

The Republican Party is not going to reform. If we let states secede, we will effectively get rid of the most egregious members of the Republican Party.

Imagine our lawmakers working on our behalf and trying to actually fix problems.

All I Want For Christmas

I'm a reasonable man, I am.

I can't say the same about Joseph diGenova and Rick Wiles. I mean these guys be bigly cray cray.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/pastor-urges-trump-admin-to-shoot-democrats-journalists-if-they-conspired-to-rig-election/ar-BB1bvixv?fbclid=IwAR0IMSOi9prIPTtvDfpkh_JNwoqMfCCDXMn075F6LcX9jcawxuy5vwuN3ls

We've just gone through 4 years of horror and chaos. In 2016, U.S. voters elected a mentally deranged, traitorous, pedophile, mobster with delusions of grandeur - a Hitler wannabe - and some 71 million of us voted for him again last month.

Yeah, so lots of bigly cray cray U.S. voters too.

But what about the 80 million U.S. voters who voted for Biden? Any of them cray cray?

Could be. There's a simple enough test to determine if you're a cray cray Democrat. Ask yourself these questions:

1. Am I okay with pardoning Trump?

2. Am I ready to tear up the Democratic Party if Biden doesn't appoint people I want to his cabinet?

3. Am I ready to tear up the Democratic Party if the legislation I want passed doesn't get passed within the first 2 years of Biden's term?

4. Am I ready to stay home or vote for a non-Democrat in the midterms?

5. Do I believe the Democratic Party is comprised of geniuses and/or saints and/or altruists?

For each Yes answer give yourself 20 points. If you've scored above Zero (0), you be a cray cray mf.

Here's the skinny. We've elected politicians. Can you dig it?

Me. I'm ridin with Biden and votin blue til every last Republican who was in office during Trump's presidency is gone. I ain't never votin for a Libertarian or a Tea Partier.

You can retake this test as many times as you want until you're no longer crazy. If you do, remember this. The alternative to Democracy is fascism. Democracy is messy. Fascism is neat and deadly.

Let's Talk Turkey

It's November. The election is over. Thanksgiving is behind us. Let's talk turkey.
For over 4 years I've followed the news meticulously. I've read over 30 books. I've interacted on Twitter and, in accordance with my responsibilities as Prophet of the Church of the Holy Moly, I do this blog.
I do these things on a daily basis. Some days I spend hours at my computer. Some days I never get out of my pajamas. I do this all in an effort to understand what's going on in the United States.
The nomination, election and inauguration of Trump was the catalyst for this. Truth be told, I've been concerned about the United States my entire adult life. I'm 74.
To say that my concerns since 2016 were at an elevated level would be a gross understatement. I couldn't have been more concerned if I'd woken up inside the belly of a whale.
So let me start today by saying I know nothing. That's right I know nothing about what's really going on and neither do you. I'm not sure anyone does.
Truth is there's a lot going on. There's more going on than anyone knows. Even the "major" players don't really know what's happening.
Some people may have an inkling into what they're doing, but when it comes to the bigger picture, they're whistling in the dark.
Joe Biden won the election with over 8,000,000 votes. He won the electoral college with 306 votes. Despite that Trump has been refusing to concede and claiming the election was stolen.
Coming into Thanksgiving Day, Rudy Giuliani and  Sidney Powell were filing lawsuits and holding press conferences alleging voter fraud.
Trump personally met with Michigan legislators trying to persuade them to refuse to certify their state's election results. Chaos was rampant.
All this was happening while our COVID-19 infection rate and death total were mounting at a horrifying rate.
When I woke up on Thanksgiving Day I knew something had changed. Dare I say miraculously changed? I dare.
When I woke up on Thanksgiving Day I believed for the first time since Trump declared his candidacy for President on June 16, 2015 that his days were finally numbered.
Collectively, we had refused to pardon this turkey. Biden was indeed the winner and Trump was on his way out - one way or the other.
The clock is ticking. On December 14th the electoral college's electors will officially cast their votes. On January 6th their votes will be formally certified.
I know January 20th is 51 days away, but I truly believe when it arrives Joe and Kamala will be respectively sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States.
Yes, I'm a believer. I have real faith in this outcome.
On the other hand, I don't know what's going to happen with the COVID-19 pandemic that's killing us in record numbers.
I don't know what's going to happen in January when the people from Georgia return to the polls and vote for candidates who will become their next U.S. Senators.
I don't know if our grossly overvalued stock market will crash and throw us into another Great Depression.
I don't know if Trump will start another Middle East war.
I don't know if Trump's supporters will attempt a revolution.
I don't know how many more criminals and traitors Donny will pardon or even if he will attempt to pardon himself.
And, while I am truly concerned about all the things I don't know about, I'm at peace with my belief that Donald Trump's fascist reign is over.
Trump, and all the freaks he brought with him, will no longer be setting U.S. policy both at home and abroad. They'll all be civilians. They'll all be accountable under our laws.
Not knowing is unnerving, but it's not as unnerving as another 4 years of Trump would have been. We've dodged a bullet. We've come back from the brink of fascism and for that I'm ever so thankful.
I'm breathing freely. I'm also wearing a mask. Join me.
Holy Moly!
