Meat The Press - Just In Time For July 4th Barbecuing - It's Gonna Be A Scorcher

An intelligent, well informed citizenry is any country's best protection against fascism and totalitarian rule. A free press and quality education are vital to the intelligence of our citizens.

Tyrants do not tolerate either free speech or the free dissemination of information. Reporters, educators and critics have often paid the ultimate price for refuting "official" lies and trying to get the "truth" out.

Trump has been railing against the press all along. He has called them the "enemy of the people". He talks about "fake news". He has encouraged his supporters to mistreat the press at his rallies.

Milo Yiannopoulos, a right wing propagandist and provocateur, was busy this week. He said he couldn't wait for "vigilante squads to start gunning journalists down on sight".

On 6/28/2018, a gunman entered the offices of the Capital Gazette and began shooting journalists. He managed to kill 5 people and injure others. He had barricaded the exits before going in so that his victims could not get out of the building.

In the last week we have learned about children being separated from their parents and sent to concentration camps. We've been told how psychiatric drugs are being used to keep the children subdued. We've been told there are over 2,000 children being held.

Melania Trump went to see the children and made news by wearing a billboard jacket with "I really don't care. Do U?" scrawled on it.

Thursday we all got to watch Jim Jordan, Trey Gowdy and other House Republicans relentlessly attack Rod Rosenstein and Christopher Wray during the House Judiciary hearings. They attacked Mueller's investigation. They want it to end.

Yes, we actually got to see Congressmen engage in organized obstruction of justice on live TV.

Meanwhile plans are a go for a summit between Putin and Trump in mid-July. In advance of this Trump has been trashing NATO and our allies.

Trump met with Kim in Singapore earlier this month. He came back and told us North Korea was no longer a nuclear threat.

Earlier this week new satellite images were published showing North Korea's recent expansion of it's nuclear facilities.

Trump has started trade wars and we are seeing prices go up. Harley Davidson is moving a manufacturing plant overseas to avoid tariffs imposed in retaliation to the tariffs Trump has imposed.

Mowing down school children has become commonplace. Now we see children in concentration camps. Melania sends us all a clear message saying she doesn't care. Trump calls the press "enemies" and Milo can't wait to see journalists "gunned down". 5 journalists are massacred. Our President consorts with dictators and trashes our allies. He starts trade wars. With all this going on Congressional Republicans attack the FBI and demand the end of Mueller's investigation.

Trump was out there rallying his supporters in North Dakota and Wisconsin this week. He seems unfazed and undeterred by what is going on.

Our citizens who are not haters - our citizens who are not white supremacists and NAZIs need to wake up to what is happening. The country is sliding into chaos and fascism.

In a few short months we may have our last chance to put an end to this madness. If we don't take back Congress, we may never have another election.

Trump is leading us into fascism. He is taking us down a well worn path from which there is no return. It can happen here. We need to stop it.

We need to protect Robert Mueller and vote out every Republican running for office this year. We need to take back Congress in order to take back our country.

This week promises to be a hot week across the country. Millions of Americans will be barbecuing.

Trump got the jump on all of us. He started preparing for this years ago. He plans to barbecue the entire country. He's going to literally roast us alive. We're all dead meat waiting our turn on the grill.

All it takes is for us to sit back, remain silent and let it happen. Are those nothing burgers on the grill? Do you want yours with cheese? How about a "fine pickle" garnish? I hear the fireworks will be unbelievable.
