G Whiz - Golly G - Geeze - G7

The 50th anniversary of Woodstock was last month. What a trip - literally.
The 60s were really something and Joe Cocker summed it up ever so eloquently at Woodstock.

Hey, remember Country Joe? Remember the Fish Cheer? Remember the feeling of despair as the war in Vietnam escalated? I could get into a new version of the Fish Cheer with "What Are We Voting For" in the lyrics.

So what are we doing 50 years later? What happened in August, 2019? Well we continue to have children being separated from their families and held in concentration camps on our border. Now we are denying them sanitary products and immunizations.
We're destroying our environment. 16 year old Greta Thunberg sailed across the Atlantic to draw our attention to it.
When asked if she would meet with Trump she said, "Why should I waste time talking to him."

Oh yeah, domestic terrorists have stepped up their game and are still killing us with impunity.

August 3rd - El Paso - 22 murdered - 26 injured

August 4th - Dayton - 9 murdered - 27 injured

August 31st - Odessa - 7 murdered - 25 injured

It's worth noting that after 2 mass shooting in Texas in the month of August, on September 1st new laws went into effect in Texas that expanded people's rights to own and bear arms.
Among other things, you can now take your weapon of choice to school and church. Kudos to Governor Abbott.

Jeffrey Epstein allegedly committed suicide alone in his jail cell on August 10th. He was not on suicide watch even though he had allegedly attempted suicide a few weeks earlier. Turns out both security cameras overlooking his cell weren't working.
The Manhattan Jail is a federal facility regulated by the DOJ. Barr said he was very upset, but he dropped the investigation before the month ended. Turns out that neither of the 2 staff members assigned to Epstein's cell block did their rounds the night of the alleged suicide.
You don't have to be a cynic to call bullshit on Epstein's "suicide".

On August 14th our attention was refocused after the DOW dropped 800 points. The worst trading day of the year was prompted by fears of recession.
On August 26th, Matthew Petersen resigned from the Federal Election Commission. That left the Commission with only 3 members. Since it takes 4 members to have a quorum, the Commission can no longer take action to protect our elections.

Not that it matters, because Moscow Mitch still refuses to allow the Senate to vote on election security.
Yeah, our intelligence agencies are warning us that Russia is going to attack our 2020 elections, but Mitch would rather allow a sanctioned Russian company to build an aluminum plant in Kentucky.
That's Oleg Deripaska in the above photo. He's a Russian oligarch and a confidant of Vladimir Putin.
You know Vlad right? He's Donny's godfather. Donny is a Russian asset.

Oh yeah, on August 22nd, Trump said he was the "Chosen One".
Trump also said Jewish people who vote for Democrats "show a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty."
Jonathan Greenblatt, chief executive of the Anti-Defamation League. responded by saying those accusations have a long and disturbing history of being used against Jews.
Earlier in the month, Trump urged his pal Benny Netanyahu to bar 2 Muslim-American Congresswomen, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, from entering Israel. Imagine that!
On August 28th, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham was quoted in an interview by the Washington Post and she said Trump never lies.
Turns out Steph has a record that includes 2 DUI arrests and she lost 2 jobs for cheating on expenses and plagiarism - oh my!
At the risk of sounding jaded, I must say there is really nothing new in terms of all this. This is what life in the United States has devolved into since the 2016 elections.
Having said that, I think Trump really outdid himself in France at the G7. If you think the bar couldn't get any lower you're wrong.
That's his empty chair at the climate change meeting. Yeah, he skipped the meeting and then lied saying he was privately meeting with Angela Merkel who, as it turns out, was actually at the meeting.
Donny also pushed to have next year's G7 at one of his properties in the U.S. You can't make this shit up. He was promoting one of his resorts - one that hit the news earlier this year because of a bed bug infestation. It resulted in a lawsuit that he settled. Of course he lied about that too.
But all that was nothing compared to his advocating for Russia to be included in next year's G7 conference. Russia was expelled from the G8 after it annexed Crimea in 2014.
Yes, Trump is either a "Russian asset" or "useful idiot" for Putin.

He is also a cause for national shame. I know of no other national leader going to a world conference and using it to sell room bookings at his private facility to the other national leaders who were present and actually attending meetings.
Hey, we're in the midst of a fascist coup. Who knew? Who could have predicted any of this?
On the international stage, Russia had a nuclear powered missile test go bad, a reactor melt down, and it also managed to launch the world's first floating nuclear reactor which is being deployed in Artic waters. Nothing to worry about with any of that.
And North Korea launched a nuclear missile submarine. We're lucky though, because Kim loves Donny and Donny trusts Kim.
What the hell was going on in August?
Holy Moly!

  1. Can't hardly believe we made it through that month. The one good thing we do know, Trump will throw himself under the bus soon enough.

    Excellent work
