We are a nation of laws. We pride ourselves on "Liberty" and "Justice" for "All". We talk about equal protection under the law. Hogwash!
Have you taken a good look at Lady Justice? Her image adorns a lot of our courtrooms. She is blindfolded and carries a set of scales and a sword.
What's the deal with the blindfold? Would you get in a taxi with a cab driver who was blindfolded? What about the scales? Well, justice is meted out depending on who pays the most for it. You have to weigh the gold to know who is paying the most. And the sword? Really, you're asking about the sword. A sword is a lethal weapon. Justice will kill you if you're not careful.
Bill Clinton was impeached because he lied about whether or not he got a blow job. It's worth noting he wasn't found guilty. I'm not making any comment on Bill Clinton here. I'm just saying that in the pursuit of "justice" our Congress prosecuted our president because he lied about getting a blow job.
Let's put this in perspective. When our country was founded, slavery was legal. You want to talk about justice?
Okay, so slavery is no longer legal, but justice is still blind, corrupt and lethal. We went to war with Vietnam based on a series of lies. We did the same thing with Iraq. Nobody was impeached. Millions have died over the years and nobody was held accountable.
Justice has nothing to do with accountability. Accountability is not relevant. Justice is meted out everyday independent of accountability.
We are a nation of laws. We are not a nation of justice. Justice under the law is a circular definition. In the pursuit of justice you will often find yourself running in circles.
Michael Flynn took over half a million dollars from Turkey while working for the Trump campaign. He was appointed National Security Advisor by Trump. He was fired by Trump within a month of Trump taking office for allegedly lying to Mike Pence.
The thing is he never registered as a foreign agent as he was required to under the law. He was a foreign agent and he only recently registered "retroactively" as one after this information became public. Really? Retroactively?
Preet Bharara was the U.S. Attorney in New York. He is famous for rooting our corruption. He was asked to stay on as U.S. Attorney by Trump and then he was fired last week, a few days after some independent watchdog groups asked him to investigate Trump for violations of the Emoluments Clause of the United States Constitution.
By the way, the thing about Flynn lying to Pence - turns out Pence was sent a letter about Flynn lying about meeting with the Russian Ambassador way before Pence said Flynn never met with the Russian Ambassador in an interview on TV.
Justice is fleeting. Bullshit! Justice is like the Flash. You can't catch up to Justice, you can't even see Justice as it passes you by.
Justice is just another name for hypocrisy. We may not have a lot of justice but we sure have a lot of hypocrisy. We have liberty and hypocrisy for all. We have so much liberty and hypocrisy, we are blinded by it.
Holy Moly!
